IJGlobal Investor Awards 2025 – Outstanding Individual
Lucy Heintz – London-based head of energy at Actis – was chosen by the independent panel of judges to win the Outstanding Individual trophy at the IJGlobal Investor Awards 2025.
Praise from the judges came thick and fast with one admiring Lucy’s “successful track record in leading on the execution of strategic transactions in Actis's key market”.
Another judge said: “Lucy has a good track record of executing transactions in more difficult jurisdictions. She manages a strong team and has helped grow Actis into a major investor in energy in these geographies.”
The judging comments were rounded off with: “Lucy is a highly respected figure within the industry.
“She has a demonstrated innovation throughout her career, but her achievement of leading on Actis’s largest-ever capital markets debt raise and single-tranche Peruvian private corporate bond to open up new sources of capital for renewable energy in Latin America and set a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure finance makes her a very worthy winner this year.”
Lucy (pictured right) is partner, head of energy infrastructure at Actis as well as serving as fund head for Actis Energy 5, the firm’s flagship fund which counts $6 billion of investable capital – the largest Actis fund to date.
She sits on the Actis energy investment committee and executive committee, overseeing the firm’s performance.
Further, she serves as board chair for Levanta Renewables, Bridgin Power, Rezolv Energy and Yellow Door Energy, and sits on the boards of BluPine Energy and Nozomi Energy.
Lucy leads a team of around 50 investment professionals and is responsible for the firm’s flagship energy investment practice.
Actis has deployed $10.1 billion into the energy sector – including ALLIF investments – and has built, operated or contracted around 41GW of installed capacity since inception (more than half of which is from renewable energy).
The submission states: “Lucy has demonstrated clear innovation in infrastructure investing, leading Actis’s energy infrastructure and energy transition strategy with fresh thinking and measurable outcomes.
“As head of Actis Energy 5, she introduced successful financing solutions, highlighted by the Orygen transaction and subsequent bond financing. This was Actis’s largest-ever capital markets debt raise and the largest single-tranche Peruvian private corporate bond, attracting over $5 billion in orders – 4.1 times oversubscribed and fully subscribed in under 20 minutes.
“This success opened up new sources of capital for renewable energy in Latin America and set a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure finance.”
The submission continues: “Lucy also advanced impactful portfolio development, overseeing investments like MTerra Solar – now the largest solar PV project in the Philippines, with 778MW installed, and set to become one of the largest renewable energy and battery storage integrated projects globally with 3.5GWp of solar PV capacity complemented by 4.5GWh of battery storage, providing clean energy to about 2.4 million Filipino households.
“Through these achievements, Lucy has shown how innovative strategies can drive both financial performance and progress on the energy transition.”
