IJGlobal Investor Awards 2025 – Rising Star Winner

Apollo Global Management principal Ricardo Mitrano was chosen by the judging panel to win the Rising Star trophy at the IJGlobal Investor Awards 2025.

Ricardo – who relocated to London from New York this summer – has already had an impact on the team having, as one judge points out, “played a key role in 2 major transactions in the judging period”.

Another of the judges said: “Ricardo has demonstrated innovation through creative structuring and execution of complex infrastructure transactions. He has experience across carve outs, asset management, value creation that has had a measurable impact on the firm's success.”

Ricardo is a principal in Apollo’s infrastructure private equity team where he focuses on control buyouts, corporate carve-outs, and strategic platform investments across digital infrastructure and energy transition sectors.

Since joining Apollo in 2021, he has played a key role in sourcing, structuring, and executing transformative transactions, including the recent sale of hyperscale data centre platform Yondr and the carve-out acquisition of STACK’s European colocation business.

Prior to Apollo, Ricardo was an investment banking analyst in the TMT group at Bank of America, gaining foundational experience in large-cap transactions and capital markets execution.

The submission states: “Ricardo’s combination of technical and financial expertise has made him a trusted execution lead on high-profile infrastructure deals, positioning him as one of the next generation of leaders in the sector.”

During the judging period, Ricardo demonstrated innovation through creative structuring and execution of complex infrastructure transactions.

On the STACK carve-out, he supported a transaction separating the European colocation business from its hyperscale-focused parent, which created a standalone platform with strategic positioning across 5 key markets.

The submission states: “The deal structure ensured operational continuity for customers while enabling Apollo to pursue growth in high-connectivity enterprise markets.

“For Yondr, Ricardo supported the exit process, helping position the platform’s differentiated development and hyperscale delivery capabilities to maximise value.

“He brings a data-driven approach to market evaluation, integrating technical diligence with commercial structuring to optimise investment outcomes.

“By applying technology-sector insight to infrastructure investment, Ricardo has advanced Apollo’s ability to execute in the rapidly evolving digital infrastructure space, aligning capital deployment with long-term growth trends in connectivity, data demand, and cloud adoption.”
