Infra Dig – PEI Global on APAC infra

Given that IJGlobal this week hosted its Asia Pacific conference in Singapore, it felt only right that Infra Dig should record a podcast on the ground.

IJGlobal editorial director Angus Leslie Melville took a break from IJGlobal Infrastructure Finance Forum: Asia 2025 to speak with Adrian Aw – managing director of PEI Global Partners – to discuss the regional market.

In a shorter than normal podcast that runs for almost 14 minutes, Adrian discusses the panel he just hosted at the IJ APAC conference and then delves into the infra environment.

Adrian (pictured right) operates out of Hong Kong, leading the PEI APAC team that he joined from Cantor Fitzgerald in early 2024 having worked with these colleagues for a long time, even at Jefferies.

At the US investment bank, he focuses on power, energy and infrastructure advising investors that are interested in the US market as well as transactions on the ground where energy transition and power generation dominate.

Adrian starts off by taking the listener through the panel he was fresh from moderating, drilling down into the challenges of derisking energy and infrastructure assets in a shifting financial landscape.

He said: “Ultimately, we are in a changing world – political shifts, technological advancements and challenges posed by climate change. So, a lot of the investors are digging into this theme.

“But I think that one of the common things that people talked about was that in order to be successful, you have to really focus on proprietary deals, be the first mover in the sector you want to focus on, and finding the right partners in the local markets.”

“Obviously, APAC is a big region – but most of the investors talked about finding the right partners in the countries they work in.”
