TagEnergy acquires 4 wind farms, UK
TagEnergy has acquired 4 mid-stage onshore wind development projects in Scotland, marking its first move into UK power generation and expanding its domestic portfolio beyond battery storage.
The projects, representing a proposed combined 270MW, are:
- Cairnmore Hill – near Thurso in Caithness
- Torfichen – near Torfichen Hill in Midlothian
- Sclenteuch – near Patna in East Ayrshire
- Glenburnie – near Lauder in the Scottish Borders
The company purchased 100% of the projects from renewable energy developer RES, which will continue to provide certain development services.
The acquisition lifts TagEnergy’s UK multi-technology pipeline to more than 1.5GW. The company already operates 320MW of grid-connected BESS assets across 6 sites.
TagEnergy’s entry into Scottish onshore wind aligns with the UK’s Clean Power Action Plan, which targets the doubling of onshore wind capacity by 2030. The company plans to apply its international development capabilities to support national generation and emissions-reduction objectives.
Franck Woitiez, chief exec of TagEnergy, said: “This is a monumental step in TagEnergy’s UK journey as we become a true multi-technology IPP with generation and storage technologies to drive the country’s energy transition on more fronts simultaneously.”
