IJGlobal Awards 2023 – Rising Star – Brandon Kothe


Brandon Kothe – vice president at Agentis Capital – was chosen by the independent panel of judges to win a Rising Star Awards in the IJGlobal Awards 2023, with judges describing him as “well respected and a rising star in his field.”

One judge said: “Brandon has played an instrumental role in advising on landmark infrastructure transactions over the past few years in several different countries across the Americas.”

Another judge said: “Brandon has led many sizable transactions including some with very complex financing and commercial terms. He serves a broad range of client types.”

Kothe joined Agentis as an intern in 2016 and quickly climbed up the ranks to the role of vice president in 2021. He has led a wide range of P3, transport, and digital infrastructure transactions, having closed over C$11.9bn of transactions (with C$7.4bn closed in the last 3 years). Transaction highlights include:

  • leading the Abertis team on the Puerto Rico Toll Road Monetisation Project
  • leading the first digital infrastructure transaction completed with the Canada Infrastructure Bank on behalf of DIF
  • (Purple Line in 2022
  • Central 70 in 2017
  • acquisitions, and refinancings (Ohio River Bridges and Central 70 refi in 2021

Yet another judge said: “The Puerto Rico deal was a US$2.85 billion transaction that was incredibly complicated. It shows that Brandon is perfectly able to handle complicated deals.”

Kothe has worked with strategics, pension funds, and infrastructure clients including ACS, Acciona, Kiewit, Meridiam, Northleaf, and Vinci. Clients consistently highlight Brandon’s creativity, strong technical abilities, and dedication to delivering the best risk-adjusted outcome.

His submission also states: “He is also serving as a direct mentor to 4 junior staff at Agentis and has a large impact on the growth of the entire Agentis team and business, through his development of Agentis’ custom training programmes for all new staff and leadership of our innovation in business practices and procedures team globally.”
