Guatemalan highway PPP slated for FC this year
Guatemala’s first PPP – the $85 million Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal Toll Road – will reach financial close in 2023, 5 years after it was awarded.
The project must reach FC this year (2023) according to the concession contract, with concessionaire Autopistas de Guatemala (Convía) now looking to secure financing.
Convía will be exclusively responsible for financing the project without direct government contribution.
The company – a consortium of Mexico’s Grupo Marhnos and local construction company Precon – was named preferred bidder by procuring authority Anadie for the 25-year concession in July 2018.
