Sale of Dutch energy infra business on the cards

The entirety of Duiven-based metering business Kenter is potentially coming to market, IJGlobal has learnt.

The transaction is in the early stages, however, according to a source, there is considerable interest in the potential offload of the asset.

Kenter is part of energy grid business Alliander Group – held by Dutch provincial authorities and municipalities – and offers energy metering and management services in the Netherlands. It has more than 300 employees, serving more than 28,000 companies.

The company originated in 2016 as a measurement company and in 2017 took over the rental, management and maintenance of medium voltage installations from Dutch utility business Liander.

Kenter has branches in:

  • Amsterdam
  • Duiven
  • Eindhoven
  • Leeuwarden
  • Rotterdam

Last year (2022) Dutch infrastructure services company Fudura was acquired by DIF Capital Partners and PGGM from Enexis Groep, with each business holding a 50% stake.

The acquisition was made through funds DIF Infrastructure VI and PGGM Infrastructure Fund with Pantheon Infrastructure (PINT) later agreeing to invest €47 million ($50.6m) alongside DIF.
