Exeter Uni – bids due very soon
Bids are due within the next couple of weeks (September 2022) for the £185 million ($213m) University of Exeter student accommodation DBFO.
Sources close to the deal say that the Streatham Campus – which involves some 1,790 student rooms – is making progress with UPP understood to be among the bidders.
Development plans for the project, which was launched in early 2020, involve the demolition of 12 accommodation blocks and 3 dated buildings in the Clydesdale and Nash Grove area.
The new development – Streatham Campus – involves the construction of 8 blocks on the 15-acre site and they will range in height from 3 to 8 storeys.
Work is scheduled to start next year (2023).
The entire scope of work at launch of the project was:
- demolition of the existing accommodation in the Clydesdale and Nash Grove area and building new, low-carbon student living facilities built to the Passivhaus standard, designed to make better use of available space
- conversion of catered to self-catered accommodation in the Birks Grange Village complex built to the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard
- redevelopment of the Birks Grange Central Block into further accommodation and supporting social facilities, including a shop
- removal of the Estate Services Centre, including greenhouses and storage buildings, from Birks Bank to expand student accommodation in the area
- relocation of the Estate Services Centre to the top of Rennes Drive, north east of Car Park B. Green Waste Site
